About Us

In theory, anyone can make a candle. You buy some paraffin and a wick in the shop, bang a mould together, string up the wick, melt the paraffin, and pour it in the mould. In actual practice, it is an art form of an entirely different order. Pouring quality candles is a true craft, an authentic metier. It can't be learned from books, and there are no specialised candle-making schools. Learning from experience is the only option. That was how Kaarsen Dekocandle started 10 years ago, and has since become the market leader in quality hand-poured candles in the Benelux.

Making candles seems much simpler than it actually is. Candles are made from a mixture of paraffin and stearine. Each substance comes in countless forms, each of which can be considered more or less suitable for a specific type of candle. The ratio of paraffin to stearine is also important.

The wick is a crucial element, made of pure braided cotton. You've all seen it before: a wick that smokes, or keeps smouldering long after you blow out the flame, making it almost impossible to light the next time. Kaarsen Dekocandle keeps its mastery of that technique a closely guarded trade secret, gained through years of hard-won experience.

Kaarsen Dekocandle earned its excellent reputation based on the beauty and quality of its candles. It offers an unparalleled range of colours (65 colours), all produced according to its own unique insight and sense of quality.

Kaarsen Dekocandle has also attained international renown at international trade shows in Frankfurt (Tendence, Christmasworld and Ambiente), Paris (Maison&Objet) and Milan (Macef).
